ADA Resources

Regardless of a project's scale or location in the world, I strive to bring accessibility and inclusion.

Here are a few resources that are great for beginning ADA conversations.

ADA NATIONAL NETWORK

In addition to wonderful publications and videos, the ADA National Network includes a no-cost basic training course and a confidential number for questions.

Publications: https://adata.org/ada-publications

ADA Basics Building Block Course:  https://www.adabasics.org/

Confidential Line: 1-800-949-4232

A.C.T.S. SAFETY

Arts, Crafts, and Theater Safety provides technical services and safety information to fabricators in the arts, crafts, museum, and theater communities. Their publications and confidential hotline have been extremely useful for framing up conversations regarding reasonable accommodations for situations such as workplace injury and expecting mothers.

Attractions & Resorts

NICKELODEON EXPERIENCE: KARISMA RESORTS

The Nickelodeon Experience was developed for two Karisma Resorts in Cancun, Mexico.

Project responsibilities: coordinating design resources for new and renovated spaces, early marketing and logo development, character sculpture production reviews from concept to installation, 3-D modeling Slime-related elements, and developing on site solutions for construction modifications.

ADVENTURE BAY: MALL OF AMERICA

This interactive playground features iconic landmarks, vehicles, and characters from the show Paw Patrol. My role focused on overseeing the vehicle design modifications as they were adjusted for interactives and safety guidelines, as well as art directing the character fabrication and opening installations.

CHARACTER SCULPTURE ART DIRECTION

During my time with Nickelodeon, I art directed character sculptures across a tremendous variety of installations and vendors. Whether the character was 4 inches or 16 feet tall, 3D printed or sculpted in clay, the same process for reviewing modeling and fabrication was utilized. The majority of reviews were conducted remotely. Project included theme parks, resorts, traveling exhibits, and special events.

SHREDDER'S MUTANT MASHER: MALL OF AMERICA

An adrenaline-rush attraction themed to TMNT's iconic villain and his genius scientist, Shredder's Mutant Masher utilized existing retail and queue space within the park. My design role included creating a design intent drafting package based on concept rendering and model. This included elevations of the architectural modifications, props, and ride overlay.

BUBBLE GUPPIES GUPPY BUBBLER: MALL OF AMERICA

This tongue-twisting titled attraction featured the lovable mermaid children from Bubble Guppies. A unique, character-themed design on each gondola personalizes the guest experience. As a project designer, I translated character patterns to paint palettes, and developed contrasting palettes for the shells. I also designed the wayfinding signage and managed attraction design modifications.

DORA'S NIGHT SKY: FEC INTERACTIVE

This guest interactive's housing structure was designed to showcase the Dora IP. Working with the project's Creative Director, I developed comps for concept development and presentation visuals. I also reviewed and edited graphic assets for the character silhouettes. The character sculpture was the first instance of a combination hand sculpt and mill to realize Dora.

Entertainment - Touring Productions

PAW PATROL LIVE! RACE TO THE RESCUE

This two-act musical, produced by VSTAR Entertainment, utilized puppetry, video, and dimensional scenic pieces to bring Adventure Bay to life. Original responsibilities included Art Direction of scenery, props, and digital backgrounds. As the show toured globally, additional support included art directing the modifications for arena venues and adjustments for regional needs.

PAW PATROL LIVE! THE GREAT PIRATE ADVENTURE

Collaborating with VSTAR, and particularly set designer Peter Windingstad, made this one of my favorite entertainment projects with Nickelodeon - we pushed every aspect of the original show's design and fabrication, while planning for ability to simultaneously tour arenas and traditional theaters.

DOUBLE DARE LIVE

Produced by Red Tail Entertainment, Double Dare Live! brings the mess and excitement of Nickelodeon's class game show to the families all over the United States. The VIP Experience included a photo opportunity with Da Nose.

NICK JUNIOR LIVE! MOVE TO THE MUSIC

Styled as a multi IP variety show, Move To The Music's diverse scenic looks were accomplished with digital and physical scenery. In addition to art direction of the scenic units and drops, I developed graphic styles for the VIP experience area.

Entertainment - Park, Mall Productions

DOUBLE DARE CHALLENGE, MALL OF AMERICA

Responsibilities for the Double Dare Challenge at Mall of America included designing and art directing the center stage Slimulators, as well as the seasonal scenic overlays for Halloween and Nickelodeon's 10th birthday at MOA.

PEN2STAGE & EVENTBOX PRODUCTIONS

I loved serving as art director and/or graphic designer on mall shows with Nickelodeon. These stagings were often developed from Seasonal or Specialty style guide developed by the IP, and focused on education and audience interactions. Some were also used for meet and greets or special events such as fashion shows.

Modeling and/or On-Site

ROCKWORK MODELING AND/OR ON SITE PAINTING

Working as a model maker and on site artist with Nassal provided a wide variety of projects. Assignments included a scale model of the Houston Zoo exhibit, modeling and on-site painting for the Four Seasons, and additional projects with IPs.
